The Golden Age of Hollywood, a presentation for adults by Spirits of Fashion. Tuesday, April 23, at 6:00 PM. Join us as we travel through these fascinating decades and enjoy a glimpse into the glamour of that golden age. Fashion on the silver screen during the ‘30s, ‘40s, ‘50s was not only glamorous and influential, but also was enjoyed as an “escape” from the problems of each decade. The 1950s movies continued to show elegant fashions that were inspiring to the audiences of that period, but the advent of television caused fashion influence to be split between the silver screen and the smaller TV in America’s homes. (spiritsoffashion.com) Flyer includes a black and white photograph Marlene Dietrich, one of the most popular film and music stars of the 1930s and 1940s. The actress is leaning against the banister of a grand staircase and looking off camera with a smile. She wears a long dress cinched at the waist with a belt, a long sleeve jacket with fur around her upper arm, and a drapey hat covering her hair. Registration is required. Visit our Events Page! Funded by the Friends of the Blackstone Public Library.
