Part-time Library Aide Position

The library is now accepting applications for the position of a Part-Time Library Aide
$12.75 per hour (no benefits)


Work Schedule
  • Mondays 3-8 P.M.
  • Tuesdays 4-8 P.M.
  • Thursdays 3-8 P.M.
  • Alternate Fridays and Saturdays 10 A.M.-2 P.M.
  • Hours are subject to change.
Principal Responsibilities and Duties
  • Circulates books, periodicals, audio-visual materials, and other items
  • Registers patrons for library cards and maintains patron records
  • Processes renewals, reserves, and over-dues
  • Shelves books, periodicals, audio-visual materials, and other items
  • Assists patrons with use of public access computers
  • Answers reference questions
  • Assists patrons with downloadable eBook, eAudio, and eVideo content
  • Assists patrons with using online tools such as Mango, Hoopla, etc.
  • Disinfects computers and high touch areas as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned 
Knowledge, Skill and Abilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to make decisions in accordance with library policies and procedures
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge of alphabetical, numerical and subject filing systems
  • Knowledge of Windows operating system, computer usage, basic word processing program, and library software
  • Ability to lift not more than fifty (50) pounds, and/or push a book cart
  • Ability to stretch or climb to a height of seven feet and bend to floor level
  • Basic operation of library office equipment including copy machines, scanners, facsimile machines, and computer workstations
Qualifications
  • Applicants must be 18 years of age
  • Must have high school diploma or equivalency

The Blackstone Public Library offers Homebound Delivery once a week to library patrons who are residents of Blackstone and do not have access to the library due to permanent or temporary physical limitations.
Patrons interested in the delivery service must complete an application to ensure their eligibility.  Please visit the Homebound Delivery page on the Blackstone Public Library's website for the application:  http://www.blackstonepubliclibrary.org/homebounddelivery.asp
A library staff member will be in contact to review the Homebound Delivery application.  Library staff is responsible for loaning, delivery, and collection of materials used in the Homebound Delivery Program. Library staff will not enter homes.
